St. Mary Catholic Parish is a vibrant community that dates back to 1893. For over 124 years, our Church has been ministering to the needs of our parish and Escondido in general helping with the foundation of Resurrection Parish to the north and the parish of St. Timothy to the south. St. Mary was also one of the founding entities of Interfaith Services. Even though facilities, faces and original location (Church on the Hill) have changed over the years, one thing remains the same… our commitment to Christ through Mary, to one another and to the betterment of our community and society as a whole.
Our Parish today is very much alive with over 3,500 registered households. In addition, St. Mary has the largest Sunday attendance in the diocese of San Diego with over 6,000 people and 10 services / Masses. Led by a dedicated pastor and strong corps of lay leaders and volunteers, there are a variety of ways that people of all ages can participate in the spiritual, educational, social and service ministries of our Church.
Yet, despite our strong heritage of activity and accomplishments, some significant challenges still remain part of our future.
