Our Plans
Worship Space Plans
Seating Expansion
- 200 seats will be added to the worship space, honoring our original church building plan. The two back walls of the transept, or church, will be pushed out to expand our seating capacity from 800 to 1000 seats.
- The added seating will accommodate our summer seating needs and, most importantly, prepare us for future growth.
- This expansion also will eliminate the safety concerns caused by setting up temporary seating in the back aisle.
Lighting and Flooring
- An updated lighting system, new fixtures, and more efficient LED lighting will be installed. It is possible that chandeliers will be added to balance the light throughout the church.
- The new lighting will improve visibility and add a more traditional church aesthetic to the worship space.
- The main church will be re-carpeted for easy maintenance and a fresh look.
Other Improvements
New Multi-Use Chapel
- A new 60 seat Chapel will be built connected to our church to honor our original church building plans and serve our current need for a second worship space. This smaller reverential space will be used for our many, more intimate services like daily Mass, Eucharistic adoration, and smaller weddings, funerals, and wakes.
- The chapel will have a more traditional style than our modern church and be adorned with a small Tabernacle and a hand carved and painted high altar reredos, or backdrop. Stained glass windows and Stations of the Cross from a former church, and chairs repurposed from our current church will be installed.
Expanded Restrooms
- We plan to remodel the current men’s and women’s restrooms into one men’s restroom with two stalls and build a new women’s restroom where the family restrooms are now. This will result in a total of six toilets convenient to the narthex.
- These larger restrooms, with new fixtures and furnishings, will make our facilities more accommodating, especially for families with young children and the elderly.
Covered Sidewalk
- Our main church walkway will be covered with a protective roof with skylights. This will create a safer, more welcoming entrance to
St. Anthony’s from our parking lot. - The roof will protect visitors and members from inclement weather and help reduce dangerous ice buildup on the sidewalk.
- The memorial brick walkway will be salvaged and repurposed as a memorial plaza next to the new covered walkway. Adorned with statues and plantings, this will become a gathering place for outdoor services and activities.
Bell Tower
- A prominent new bell tower will be architecturally complementary, high reaching, and visibly striking – enabling people to identify our church from afar.
- The new tower will symbolize St. Anthony’s historic community importance and prominence for the past 75 years and our intention to continue as such for the next 75 years and beyond.
Parking Lot
If sufficient money is raised, we will restore the parking lot after all construction is completed.
