Improvements
Class & Meeting Room
Over the past ten years three mobile classrooms, intended to be a short-term solution to our space needs, provided meeting and conference space. These facilities served us well, but they presented many challenges.
- Sunday Religious Education combined two to three grade levels within one classroom which was distracting for both teachers and students.
- When meeting space was busy, parish groups and ministries were forced into less than ideal or inappropriate spaces, like the Adult Faith Formation meeting in the Sanctuary.
- The mobile classrooms were not wired or equipped for today’s expected and essential wireless connectivity.
- We could not provide a comfortable environment and be good stewards of the church’s expenses because the inefficient heating and cooling systems were expensive to run to a comfortable level.
Currently we lack the class and meeting rooms needed to provide for some of our important ministries.
- Our Youth Group does not have a designated meeting place.
- Our preschool facilities do not qualify to operate as a full-time pre-school and our half-day program is not ideal for working parents. As a result, we lose families to other full-day church and school programs.
- Wedding parties must use a preschool classroom as a bridal room, which is not adequate and does not provide proper furnishings.
- We cannot offer an expanding library of spiritual reference materials with only limited bookshelves located in the Narthex.
Worship Space
Our worship space needs some enhancements to support modern day realities and liturgical practices. For example, our existing baptismal font is small and portable. A prominent and permanent position for it in our worship space would signify our first sacraments’ importance in welcoming all to the Catholic Church and faith.
Parish Office Space
Our parish office space does not accommodate all of our current staff and cannot provide for our growing needs. Also, our only conference room is too small and connected to the Pastor’s office. This makes it inadequate for larger meetings, intrusive to use, and often unavailable.
Storage Space & Accessible Parking
- Storage space is very scarce and much of it is in makeshift areas, within our rectory, and along the gym walls. This impacts the normal use of these spaces, is unsightly, disorganized, and potentially hazardous as we’ve had items melt when placed too close to light fixtures.
- To welcome everyone to our church and facilities, we must provide more handicapped accessible parking.
