Facility Maintenance Issues & Inadequate Savings

Facility Problems

• Old Boiler System: our inefficient 25-year-old boiler is expensive to run and requires many costly repairs.
• Exterior Masonry Deterioration: the building’s exterior has loose and cracking bricks and joints which could lead to interior water damage.
• No Street Signage: we have no digital street sign to display worship service times or announce events. 
•  Poor Interior Signage: our interior signage is inadequate to help visitors navigate our building.

No Contingency Fund

• Expensive Line-of-Credit: we must use our line-of-credit, which incurs finance charges, to pay for unexpected emergencies, routine capital improvements, and equipment repairs.
• No Funds Available for Expansion Opportunities: we don’t have savings to fund future expansion if nearby properties should become available.

Debt

Our debt is from the 2008 project to build the Narthex and Community Life Center (CLC). These additions have shown to be blessings and very successful in helping us continue to be “at the corner of church and community.”

Current Debt:		$325,000* 5.5% interest rate
Payment:		$4,000* per month $47,000* per year

Narthex/Foyer

The new Narthex has helped create a more closely connected family of faith:

• Welcoming Entry: the large, beautiful space, filled with natural light, welcomes all who enter.
• Transition Space: the area acts as a transition between the outside world and the Sanctuary’s reverent space.
• Enjoyable Community Place: people like to gather here to meet and greet one another before and after services. The coffee service and seating areas encourage fellowship.
• Welcome Center: it includes an area for church and event information.

Community Life Center

The CLC has successfully met our goal of reaching and ministering to the mind, body, and soul of our church and community by housing:

• The Well weekly worship service.
• Manna in the Middle events during the school year.
• Community events, meals, and celebrations.
• Head Start program that has educated hundreds of young learners.
• Harvest Table which has served 58,000 nourishing meals from over 24,000 volunteer hours.
• Diaper Ministry which has supplied 527,000 diapers.
  
  

Worship Limitations

Inadequate Technology

Hearing Assistance System

• The Sanctuary’s hearing assistance system doesn’t have enough devices.
• The CLC does not have a hearing assistance system.

No Livestreaming Outreach
We cannot livestream our church or CLC services. Watching or hearing a live service often enhances the worship experience for those who cannot attend and may inspire them to come to service if or when they are able.

No Internet or Audio-Visual
Our Sanctury has no projector or screen to use during worship.

Old Hymnals & Bibles

Our hymnals are outdated and our Bibles are worn. There are not enough of them in the Sanctuary.
