Sanctuary & Nave (Main Body of the Church)
- The altar platform is too large and takes up more space than necessary, leaving no room for our musicians to stand at the side of the altar to better lead our parish in songs of worship and praise.
- The tabernacle is an old, secondary one that is not the prominent, focal point holding the Body of Christ that it should be.
- The Reredos, or altar backdrop, is old and outdated against an uninviting, dull, brick wall.
- The church’s flooring is over 20-years-old and worn out.
- Our 1970’s era mercury vapor lighting system and fixtures are too dim and increasingly expensive to operate and maintain.
- Our pews are old, scratched, dirty, and uncomfortable. We have researched options and been advised that they cannot be reasonably refurbished.
Stations, Statuary, & Baptismal Font
- The Stations of the Cross are small and difficult to see to interpret what each station represents.
- Finally, our expanding Hispanic community should have an appropriate treatment for the statuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and our Filipino community a niche for a statue of Santo Nino.
- The baptismal font is a bowl kept on a table off to the side of the altar – almost out of sight, rather than being a permanent and prominent symbol of welcome into our Catholic faith.
Vestibule, Restrooms, & Doors
- The old flooring in the vestibule (church entryway) and restrooms are worn, dated, and have outlived their usefulness.
- Our restrooms are not easily accessible to those with walkers and wheelchairs, which is an affront to our sense of social justice as well as current building code requirements.
- Both the interior and exterior doors of our church cannot be properly locked, and not all have crash-bar and ADA approved hardware allowing for escape in case of emergency.
Parking Lot
- Our parking lot is alligatoring, or continuously cracking into a rippling effect. Once this erodes into potholes, the cost of repair increases dramatically.
- Church access from the parking lot does not have ramps or appropriate grading to easily welcome our physically challenged or handicapped parishioners and visitors.
