Our plan is to glorify our beloved church in a way that uses the mystery of beauty to raise the soul to God.

PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS

Sanctuary

The plaster of the sanctuary walls and dome will be repaired after installing improved insulation, as necessary.
Then, behind the main altar and under the dome, a new, ornate, hand-carved, white-painted backdrop, or reredos, will be installed.
At a visibly elevated level, our tabernacle will be reverentially housed within this beautiful piece.
Our statues of St. Kateri and St. Francis of Assisi will adorn the reredo's left and right, and the beautiful Our Lady of the Assumption will remain above.
The back wall and entire dome, will be repainted with a resplendent mural that represents the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven.
Together with our suspended crucifix, the mural will serve as an ongoing reminder that Heaven is open and welcome to all of us because of the death and resurrection of
our Savior, Jesus Christ.
To make the sanctuary handicap accessible, the platform's top level will be removed and the choir area reconfigured to accommodate a suitable ramp.
Then, the altar platform will get new, longer-lasting flooring that will further enhance the sanctuary's beauty.

Nave

All damaged plaster will be repaired and improved insulation added as necessary.
The nave’s interior will be beautifully repainted – the pillars will be adorned with faux marble and the walls with a combination of lighter, earth-tone colors that will extend upward. Gold stars painted on the dark blue ceiling will depict a heavenly and celestial view.
After consulting with sound engineers, an updated sound system will provide all worshipers with better sound so they can participate more fully.
Finally, the aesthetics of the nave will be further improved with the installation of new, attractive, and longer-lasting flooring.

Lower Level

Our church's lower level will be improved with air conditioning. This will enhance the comfort of everyone using that space for meetings, activities, and other events during warmer weather – including the celebration of our daily and weekend Masses during the time when the church is being updated.

The wall and ceiling theme accentuates the symbolism of heaven and earth within the church. It also calls to mind Our Lady of Guadalupe, for whom our community has a special love. As our Hispanic community grows, this devotion will become all the more powerful, uniting us as her sons and daughters.

The symbolism of the blue mantle covered in stars on the ceiling will remind us that as Mother of Christ, she reigns over all of creation as Queen of Heaven and Earth.

Her mantle of protection is wrapped around each of us because she is not only our queen but also our mother.

During our celebration of the Mass, the source and summit of our faith in our sacred liturgies, the beautiful new reredos will reinforce our visual focus on the Holy Eucharist being offered on the altar with the tabernacle behind.
