A Capital Campaign to Improve Our School Facility
For over 155 years, St Paul's Lutheran Church has been ministering to the needs of the Norfolk community. Today, the church is comprised of over 260 households with 110 children enrolled in our school. There are many opportunities for people of all ages to participate in the church and school spiritual, educational, social, and service ministries. Yet, despite our strong heritage of activity and accomplishment, some significant challenges remain.
Our Faith & Value Based Education is Nearing Capacity
The local community is seeing a dramatic increase in the number of children. | Our school is well-know, and respected as exceptional. | We have future plans to offer full-day pre-school and other, needed childcare options. | There is a real prospect of us having to turn away deserving children and their parents from our church community
Our School Facilities are Not Competitive
Other local public, private, and parochial schools are updating and expanding their facilities. | To remain competitive and be seen as exemplary, our aging educational facilities need to be larger and more up-to-date. | Our whole church community will benefit from improved facilities.
Expanded Early Childhood Learning Center is Needed
Our pre-school has grown from just a small number of students to over two dozen today. | Providing a full-day pre-school option is a big demand in our community. | Adding a full-day option to our existing half-day program will soon put our pre-school at capacity. | Many students are already enrolled in next year’s half-day and new full-day pre-school programs.
School enrollment has grown from 44 students in 1991 to 87 in grades K-8 today. | Norfolk’s under-5 population of 1,963 is estimated to grow to 2,100 by 2025. | Existing child-care centers currently have 1,538 availabilities with waiting lists expected to extend out to 1½ years or more.
