Our Plans
A professional facility assessment determined that renovating and expanding our existing building facilities would not meet our needs and cost almost the same as building all new facilities. So, our exciting plan is to:
- Buy a nearby, off-site rectory.
- Consolidate the parish offices into the old rectory and parish office building, at least temporarily.
- Add 7th and 8th-grade classes in temporary classrooms in the
parish center. - Build a large, new multi-use Parish Center.
Consolidating and Repurposing Existing Spaces
Off-Site Parish Rectory
We’ve already bought and moved our priests into an off-site rectory on 5th Street, which is still close by but provides our priests with more privacy and work-life balance.
Consolidated Parish Offices
All parish offices are now consolidated in the original rectory and existing parish office building. Though imperfect, this will serve our needs until we can afford a more permanent solution.
Temporary Middle School Classrooms
Moving staff members from the parish center frees up space for 7th and 8th grade classes. These grades will be added in 2024 and 2025.
- Though inadequate, the parish center building is an ideal temporary solution for these classes until permanent classrooms connected to the school can be built.
Let us rise-up to meet every need, to overcome every obstacle and to passionately pursue every opportunity available to better our church. This is the very essence of what God asks and commands of us as stewards of His church.
Next Steps
New Parish Center
The important next step in our plan is to build a new, single-level Parish Center. One extending from and connected by an indoor walkway to the main part of our education center building and school.
School Addition
Permanent Middle School Classrooms
Additional classrooms and religious education space will be added for lower grades or future 7th and 8th grades.
Expanded Preschool Program & Classroom
A larger preschool classroom will accommodate more children. Expanding this program can provide more parish revenue and serve as a feeder program for our school.
More Secure School Entrance
School visitors will enter through a more central, safe, and secure double entry before gaining full access into the building.
More Adequate School Offices
The school office area will have a large, welcoming reception area, nurse’s office, larger principal’s office with an in-suite conference area, and separate, larger working and conference areas.
Expanded Elementary School Classrooms
The old school office space will be used to enlarge our existing elementary school classrooms to accommodate more school and
religious education students.
Multi-Use Cafeteria
- The new educational wing will have a dedicated school cafeteria.
- The multi-use cafeteria space can also be used for other meetings, gatherings, and social purposes.
- Because we also plan to build a separate parish fellowship hall, events like funeral lunches can be held without interrupting school meals.
New Multi-Use Gymnasium
- A multi-use school gymnasium will enable us to host various youth and adult activities.
- New restroom facilities with access to showers will be adjacent to the gym.
New Commercial Grade Kitchen
A large, central school kitchen with commercial-grade appliances, food preparation, and storage spaces will enable us to prepare and serve food for large parish, school, and community events.
Parish Hall
Larger Multi-Use Parish Hall
A ground-level multi-use parish hall will make our activities accessible and welcoming to all.
- The large hall with adjacent catering kitchen will allow us to host funeral luncheons, wedding receptions, parish breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and coffee and rolls after Mass.
- This new hall along with the new school cafeteria will enable us to host large parish, school, and community events.
More Ample Multi-Use Adult Meeting Rooms
The new Parish Center will have more multi-use meeting rooms and an elevator so everyone can easily access meetings on the lower-level. Large group meeting rooms on the lower-level will be able to be subdivided into various sizes.
Dedicated Youth Room
A lower-level, large, dedicated youth room will be a positive gathering space for our church’s young people.
Expanded On-Street Parking
While the new Parish Center is being built, new angled parking spaces will be added along the entire block of 11th Street and on at least half of 12th Street.
Temporary Multi-Use Outdoor Recreational Space
Once the new Parish Center is complete, the parish center building will be removed, and temporary outdoor recreational space with a basketball court and playground will be added in its place.
Final Steps
New Church, Gathering Space, & Office Center
Larger Worship Space
To better serve a parish community of our size and the needs of the modern liturgy, we plan to eventually build a large, new church on the northwest side of our campus.
Welcome Center
An ample indoor gathering space will be built as part of the new church. This welcome center will be where we can greet, console, congratulate, and get to know one another better. It will also serve as overflow seating space at Christmas and Easter.
Office Center
A new, more professional Parish Office Center and space within or connected to the church will be included.
Expanded On-Site Parking and Outdoor Recreational Space
While the new church is being built, our on-site parking will be significantly expanded. Two new paved parking lots will be added north and west of the new Parish Activities Center and south of our planned new church. Once our new church is complete, our existing church and parish office building will be removed. We will then relocate and potentially expand our outdoor recreational facilities and playground to this newly vacated space.
