Our Needs
Capital Improvements
Christian Life Center
Our Christian Life Center (CLC) is an important church facility that needs repairs to continue to serve us well – for church activities and to provide needed rental income from our partners in the building.
New Roof. The center’s roof is over 25 years old, beyond its expected life, and starting to fail in multiple places. The most serious library deterioration was recently reroofed but the rest of it needs replacement too.
New HVAC System. Three HVAC units have been replaced recently, but eight of the rooftop units and three of the residential units remain to be updated.
New A/V System. The Multi-Purpose Room's old, out-of-date sound system has frequent crackles, squeals, and gaps that make it difficult to hear and comprehend broadcasts. The outdated projectors do not produce crisp images, and the screens are old, dirty, marked, and marred.
Parking Lot Resealing. We resealed the parking lot in 2019 and need to continue do this regularly every 18 to 24 months to avoid more expensive-to-fix cracking, potholes, and other damage.
Church Building
The church's problematic maintenance issues need to be addressed more permanently.
Exterior Security Cameras. We need to add security cameras to improve safety and security. We have 11 cameras located around the CLC and church offices but none around the chapel and church exteriors.
New Entry Doors. Our wooden chapel and church doors are very heavy for many people to open, not handicapped accessible, daylight can be seen through cracks around them, and their locks are old and unreliable.
New Flooring. The sanctuary and narthex flooring is worn, stained, outdated, and the thick carpeting is difficult for many to navigate, especially those with mobility devices.
Improved Lighting. Our lighting system is old, energy inefficient, and doesn’t produce adequate light. This makes it difficult for people to read during services and makes our beautiful sanctuary appear dim and unwelcoming.
Remodeled Chancel. The chancel, the area at the center of our worship services, is not a welcoming and workable space for all. It is not level and has stairs but no ramp so that many people are unable to easily access it to fully participate in ministry opportunities. Also, the pulpit and overhead lights need to be updated.
Education And Preschool Facility
We have demand for a full-time preschool program but our facility only meets code for a half-day option. Additionally, our educational and preschool programs are not available and welcoming to all because their facilities are not fully ADA compliant.
New & Improved Preschool Doors. The lower-level blue door, original to the space, is rusting and worn out. Also, many of the area’s doors do not meet full-day preschool codes, which also requires that an additional exterior door be added on the building’s east side.
New Interior Wall. A half wall is required in our infant room to separate the cribs from the play areas.
New Elevator. Access stairs and our lack of an elevator prevents children with mobility issues from enrolling in our preschool. It also dissuades adults and teens with mobility issues from serving as staff members, volunteers, and educational program participants. These include people and families that potentially would join our church community.
New Fencing. The outdoor chain-link fence presents security and safety concerns. It is old, rusted, broken, and has a gate that will not stay closed without a cable lock.
We have spent more on emergency repairs to the church building over the past three years than we have over the previous ten.
Financial Improvements
Debt Reduction
We need to address the pressing financial issue of our debt. The interest money we are paying would be better and more appropriately spent on needed programs, services, and ministries that benefit the people of our church.
Current debt: $140,000 for new boilers installed in December 2023
Interest Rate Expense: 8% or $10,000/year
